My son has this just before his 2nd birthday! We had no idea what was wrong and had a very long ER visit to rule everything out. Within 2 days of ibuprofen he was completely fine.

Never heard of this, but my 10 year old son is limping today with pain in his hip so hoping that ibuprofen helps and will make a ped appointment for next week! No fever or other symptoms so that's good.

Is there an age range that this happens for kids or that it happens more frequently? Thank you!

I had never heard of this until my (at the time) five year old all of the sudden couldn’t walk. I’ve had moments of panic around fevers and illnesses but this was terrifying. Both of my boys have had this TWICE and within weeks/months of each other. Was such a scary experience — even after dealing with it previously. Thanks for bringing attention to it!

Totally! I think it’s worth just knowing it exists so you have a framework for how to approach it or think about it. Many parents don’t even imagine it could be a benign cause when it happens to their child.
